Streetlight Project
On Tuesday, February 20th the proposed streetlight project for Emerald Drive and Emerald Court was approved by the Clayton County Board of Commissioners. Meeting minutes indicate the resolution (P.) was approved unanimously by the board. The approved resolution is below.
"P. Accept a Street Light Petition for a new Street Light District- Lake Spivey Estates Subdivision. The request is to establish a new street light district to include forty-four (44) street lights. (District 4- Vice Chairman Michael Edmondson)"
One Thursday, February 22nd, the LSCA Board voted to approve a resolution to help fund the project in light of the additional taxes due by the RMSs.
"Evan Black petitioned the board regarding the funding to pay for the lights at the RMS on Emerald Drive. He stated the RMS users are not asking for a handout. Mike King made a motion that LSCA will assess the Emerald Drive RMS users an additional $6.00 per year to cover the cost of the street lights. Eric Robison seconded. The vote was unanimous."
The lights were installed on Emerald Drive in May 2018.

Light poles for Emerald Court.
Unlike Emerald Drive, Emerald Court has underground utilities. Since Georgia Power needs poles on which to install the streetlights those residents paid a one-time fee to install the new poles. The payment was received by Georgia Power and the poles and lights were installed in August 2018.
